AARP
- The American Association of Retired Persons is a nonprofit membership
organization working to improve the quality of life for those
over the age of 50. Through education and advocacy, the organization
works to enhance the lives of older citizens in the areas of Health
and Wellness; Economic Security and Work; Long-term Care and Independent
Living; and Personal Enrichment. One of the services offered by AARP is free tax counseling from February 1 through April 15 each year. Benefits QuickLINK is a service from AARP to help you find public benefits near you.
ElderNet - A directory of web sites for seniors, with
links to sites dealing with health, housing, legal, financial,
retirement, lifestyles, news and entertainment information
FirstGov for Seniors - FirstGov for Seniors allows access to
all government sites that provide services for senior citizens,
such as Social Security Administration, Health Care Financing
Administration, the Administration on Aging, the Department
of Veterans Affairs, etc. There are also links to all federal
agencies and all 50 States. The site provides information on
a variety of topics, from consumer protection to retirement
planning.

Guide to Long Term Care Planning
- This free, noncommercial, online resource is the largest and most comprehensive work on long-term care planning ever published, according to its developer, the National Care Planning Council.
National Institute on Aging - The Public Information
Office at the National Institute on Aging provides educational
materials on a wide range of topics related to health and aging.
Topics cover specific diseases and health conditions, treatments,
and research.
Merck Manual of Geriatrics - The online version of the
popular medical manual. In addition to guidance on general geriatric
care, the guide also provides in-depth information on specific
diseases.

on Legal Problems of the Elderly
- The ABA Commission on Law and Aging works to strengthen
and secure the legal rights of elders, and has explored legal
issues surrounding long-term care, surrogate decision-making,
individual rights, guardianship, housing, social security, and
other public benefit programs.
National Senior Citizens Law Center - The National Senior
Citizens Law Center advocates nationwide to promote the independence
and well-being of low-income elderly individuals and persons with
disabilities.
