Consumer Protection

Federal Trade Commission - Site offers a wealth of information on topics such as credit and other consumer issues, as well as advice on avoiding scams and rip-offs. You may also file a consumer complaint about a particular business or organization from the web site.

First Gov for Consumers
- Locate information by category -- such as Food, Health, Product Safety, Your Money, and Transportation. Each category has subcategories to direct you to areas within individual federal web sites containing related information.

Connecticut Department of Banking
- The Consumer Credit Division provides information about your rights within the statutes governing debt collection. Renters and landlords can also examine issues concerning security deposits.

Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection
