Wednesday, January 20 at 7 p.m. (Community Room)

 

Book: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society

Paul Whealon, history teacher at Holy Cross High School in Waterbury,  will begin the discussion with a background on the Channel Islands, their status in relationship to Britain, and the military occupation.  Pat Johnson,  an Independent Scholar, and librarian at the Wallingford Public Library will facilitate the book discussion.   No registration required.

 

*Film Series – Enemy at the Door (4 part series)

Saturdays, January 30 – February 20 at 2 p.m. (Community Room)

Relates the story of the Channel Island inhabitants who suffered pain and frustration during the German occupation during WWII. An uneasy relationship is maintained by the islanders and the Nazis, whose constrictive regulations dampen morale.  No registration required.

Learn to make potato gnocchi with chef Paula Biondino.  Two accompanying sauces will also be made with

Forrest Yoga for Adults (4 week series)

Wednesday, Feb 10, 24, March 3, 10  at 6:30 – 7:30pm (Community Room)

Presented by Neely Kelley

Forrest Yoga does not require strength or flexibility; it only requires that you bring a willingness to learn how to feel authentically and respond honestly. Beginners to Forrest Yoga learn to breathe deeply and connect in feeling with their bodies during poses that are typically held for 5-10 breaths. As you progress, you will become proficient at safely tailoring each pose to work best for you, particularly if you have physical injuries or chronic pain

Neely Kelley discovered Forrest Yoga a year ago after being plagued by chronic low back pain. During that year, Forrest Yoga  enabled her to heal her low back. Her passion is to teach Forrest Yoga to others so they  can experience this empowering and healing yoga.

Book Voyagers - A Visit to Narnia

Mystery Theater Program for Children

Marshmallow Masquers perform Someone's in the Kitchen with Poochie - Poochie and other famous world chefs have entered the annual Millsberry Bakeoff. When Poochie's recipe ends up missing, it's up to Detective Sam Case to figure out "whodunit." 

The Marshmallow Masquers is a travelling troupe of actors performing for children, teens and adults throughout New England.

Nappy's Puppets presents Father Goose

Trouble in the Nursery....Mother Goose is away for the day and Father Goose has to take care of all her chores, including the storytelling. But try as he might he just can't seem to get those stories right.

Father Goose's Tales is an amusing, modern retelling of nursery rhymes, stories and children's songs designed to entertain the whole family.

 

Puppeteer Jim Napolitano is a native of Milford, Connecticut, and a graduate of the University of Connecticut's Puppet Arts Program. After completion of his degree, Jim worked with Bits and Pieces Puppet Theater. He has performed around the world, including The National Culture Center in Japan and The National Theater in Taiwan.

Musical Science Sense-ations with Cheryl Blum

This unique musical program gets kids excited about science by using the senses.  Solve the mystery of the snicklefruit, see tricks involving ultraviolet light, and explore sound through an assortment of  instruments.

Bach 2 Rock with Caryn Lin

Thursday, April 15 at 10:30 – 11:30 (School Vacation Week)

Ages 3 - 14

A simple Bach minuet gets whisked into present day with five string electric violin and sound effects. 

With a lot of help from the audience, Caryn Lin transforms solo sound into a mind-boggling musical experience right before your eyes and ears. Part rock concert and part interactive music education, Caryn spins stories and music together to make the program as powerful as it is entertaining!

Fancy Girls (3 week series)

St. Patrick Celebration: An evening of Irish song

Thursday, March 11 at 7:00 – 8:00

All Ages

Liz McNicholl, direct from Co. Meath, Ireland,  will perform some beloved well known Irish ballads, and some audience participation numbers that the whole family can sing along to.  Liz McNicholl immigrated from Ireland back in 1987 and has performed on many stages throughout the United States.  She has played with the renowned all-women Celtic group called "Cherish The Ladies".  Please join us for an evening of Irish heritage and song.  All ages welcome. 


No registration is required.  Seating is on a first come-first served basis.
