| Dear Incoming Fifth Grade
Parents and Students: Summer
vacation means finally having time to enjoy reading as a
pleasant and relaxed activity. We encourage your family
to visit the library frequently. The following list
contains favorite books and authors from which to choose.
Extra copies are available at the Smith and Atwater
Libraries.
General
Summer Reading Guidelines
1. Read at least 10 books or
other books by the same author from this booklist.
Write the title and author of the book on the reading log
on the back cover of this pamphlet. A parent's signature
is required when the 10 books are read.
2. Books written on the TVES Summer
Reading Log may also count for the summer reading program
at the Smith and Atwater Libraries, and for the
Governor's Summer Reading Challenge. To participate in
the public library summer reading program, you should
sign up at the Smith or Atwater Library, beginning June
19.
3. In September, present your
completed reading log to your classroom teacher. A
reading certificate will be awarded to students who have
completed the requirements.
