Medicare's new prescription drug coverage

Many people are confused about their options under Medicare's new prescription drug program. Our libraries have gathered printed materials and explored web sites to find useful and understandable information for those who are looking for coverage – and for those who are helping them.

• Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage – published in six parts by CHOICES, a program of the CT Dept. of Social Services: 1. General Information about Standard Benefits; 2. Information for ConnPACE Recipients; 3. Information for Retirees with Employer-Sponsored Prescription Drug Coverage; 4. Information for Seniors and People with Disabilities: Medicaid and "Medicaid Spenddown"; 5. How to Get Extra Help Paying for Your Prescription Drugs; 6. Information for MSP Recipients and SSI Recipients Who Do Not Have Medicaid.

A valuable resource in North Branford is its Department of Social Services. To quote from its web page:

The Town of North Branford, Department of Social Service, will assist any individual, family, child or adult facing any crisis, challenge or life management issue. This office will provide education and referral to programs that may help an individual, or a direct service by completing the application process with an individual. Programs may include WIC, regional, local, state, or Federal.
