Hagaman Memorial Library Rules for Use of the Archives
Please observe the following rules for the security of archival materials:
1. All Researchers must be given a copy of this page and sign the Archives Register each time they visit the Archives. The signature indicates that they understand the rules stated on this page.
2. Individuals requesting materials must show a photo ID or license that will be kept while archival material is in use. The ID or license will be returned after the archival materials have been returned.
3. Archival material may not be removed from the Library.
4. Briefcases, backpacks, books and all personal belongings must be placed on the shelves or on the floor. Individuals are allowed to take only pencil and paper to study tables.
5. Use of tobacco, eating, or drinking in the reference room is forbidden.
6. Access to the stack area of the Archives, except by permission of the Librarian and in the company of a staff member, is not allowed.
7. Researchers may use: 2 yearbooks, city directories, newspapers or local history/genealogy books at a time; 1 vertical file, microfilm, scrapbook, photographic album, or boxed archival collection at a time.
8. Care must be taken with materials. Do not use post-it notes, fold pages, or mark materials. Do not take notes on top of any of the materials. Please avoid touching surfaces of photographs.
9. Photocopying. Please ask the librarian for photocopies. Staff will do all photocopying. Requests should be reasonable and may not be able to be met on demand. Individuals should be prepared to pick up photocopies the following day if necessary.
10. If you find materials that are torn, marked, out of order, or in any way seem damaged, please notify the staff member on duty immediately. Patrons are requested to stop work ten minutes before closing time in order for materials to be returned to stacks.
