Interlibrary Loans

The Hagaman Memorial Library provides a diverse selection of titles from which to choose. However, there are times when patrons may be searching for materials that are not part of our collection. Interlibrary Loan (I.L.L.) is a service which can provide an efficient means for patrons to have access to a vast collection of materials beyond this library.

Books not available at the Hagaman Library may be obtained from other libraries by East Haven residents through inter-library loan. Patrons must request exact titles in this process. Library staff will gladly assist patrons searching for specific items through various electronic databases. Titles available through LEAP consortium libraries usually arrive within 1-6 weeks. Those in other libraries may take longer. Patrons are limited to 5 I.L.L. requests per month.

At the Hagaman Memorial Library I.L.L. services will be:

1. Provided for East Haven residents

-with valid library cards

-who are not delinquent in the LEAP circulation database

-who return I.L.L. materials no later than 5 days past the due date

-who pick up I.L.L. materials within 5 days of notification.

2. Obtained through the public library system; this includes the Connecticut State Library and various specialized information sources.

3. Retrieved at a maximum number of five per month, per patron.

Also:

We ask patrons who use this service to specific a time after which they will not need the material.

ILLs can now be done on the telephone!

We reserve the right to charge patrons, upon notification by the library, for costs incurred in the search and request process-including copying, faxing, and fees from participating libraries.

The Hagaman Memorial Library adheres to the standards of the INTERLIBRARY LOAN PHILOSOPHY and the INTERLIBRARY LOAN CODE FOR LIBRARIES IN CONNECTICUT.\

Connecticar/Connecticard

ConnectiCar/BeavEx: is a library materials transport system. Vans travel throughout the state picking up and dropping off materials at libraries along the seven route system. This means that materials borrowed from any of the libraries within the system may be returned to any other library within the system. All public libraries are included in this system. (Borrowers are responsible for materials until they arrive at the owning library.)

ConnectiCard: Holders of library cards issued in the state of Connecticut are granted library privileges that are not available in many other states. The "ConnectiCard" program allows patrons to borrow directly from any public library throughout the state as long as they have a valid library card issued by their hometown library. This allows them direct access to the holdings of all Connecticut public libraries.
